Vlogging and Animations

It is safe to say that we are in an era where vlogs and day to day videos dominate the platform of social media entertainment.  I don’t think anyone can really say that they didn’t see this coming, because the idea of vlogging is not a new idea.  Vlogging became popular around 2006, and since then, it’s had a nonstop upward progression.  Vlogging is advantageous to the growth of a content creator.  A main percentage of vlogging comes from Youtubers. Considering how simple the concept of vlogging, there are many different types of vloggers that create content that adheres to their audience.  Some vlogs may be more comical, while another string of vlogs may focus on more serious topics.  One example of this would be the youtuber, Swoozie, who mainly posts vlogs about his own life stories and experiences. One of Swoozie’s main string of vlogs talks about his job experiences while he was a teenager working for Disney World. He’s able to garner and grab his audience’s attention by the way he presents his stories.  The unique way that Swoozie does this is by showing his story through some form of animation and voice overs for the characters. Swoozie is able to draw a mass audience with the way he presents his stories, because it can be genuinely entertaining to any age range.  Swoozie can grab the attention of a child or an adult with his YouTube videos, and his statistics and views will show that his vlogs are being watched more than any of his other series. Since noticing this, Swoozie had begun a steady release of mainly vlogs to his channel.

Vlogging is a very accessible platform for content creators to explore, but there are other platforms that are also striving within the YouTube algorithm.  One of these platforms would be animations and animator channels.  There has been a recent growth in graphic artists channels on YouTube, having time lapse videos of them drawing a favorite character from one of their TV shows or maybe their own original characters.  The Youtuber, SSJ9K is an excellent example of a YouTube animator who has sustained a loyal following from creating original animations inspired by a show that he has fond memories of watching.  SSJ9K creates Dragon Ball Z animation parodies, doing the voice acting, animation, and storyboarding primarily by himself.  This youtuber is able to grab a wide audience of people with the main focus of his channel because of the phenomenon that Dragon Ball has nationally become since the 90s.  By using nostalgia, he is able grab the attention of people who remember watching DBZ as kids growing up, and it doesn’t even stop there.  SSJ9K is also able to reach towards the younger generation as well.  They may not have as deep of a nostalgic feel as people who grew up in the 90s, but because of the success of Dragon Ball, more than likely younger viewers will be able to recognize characters from the show.

I’ve put a video link for each Youtuber that I discussed during this post, showing one of their most popular videos.  After viewing the videos, one will have a better understanding of how these Youtubers use current and social media to keep a stable following on their platforms.

XXL Treatment

XXL

The brand that I chose for the project is XXL, a brand that focuses on music, entertainment, and fashion.  For my social branding video, I will be showing my talent who happens to make and produce his own music.  Focusing on the musical aspect of XXL, my talent focusing on developing his craft as a musician and producer will work wonderfully with a brand like XXL.  The clip shows the “humble beginning” approach that most people in the entertainment industry claim they have.  My clip will show the realism and the natural vibe that my talent gives as he creates his music.  This will show the audience watching the video that what is happening on the screen is not just for show.  The interests and hobbies that people see on the screen is what that person has been mending and molding for years, and even before someone starts taking their craft seriously.

My intended audience will be aimed towards the music lovers, social media users, and the younger generations living in urban areas.  Working with, I have no choice but to discuss it and finds a way to attract that crown of individuals who enjoy to listen to a similar genre of music that is being displayed in the clip.  The clip will show my talent producing a hip hop style beat, and this is where I believe most of the audience will fall under since that category of entertainment is top priority as of now.  Garnering a connection with social media users will expand the name of the brand musch more by sharing, liking, and maybe even someone making their own content about the person making the music. The younger generation is a group of people that can be intrigued towards a certain topic quickly, but just as quickly disengaged if it does not please them.

Showing the interesting come up of a music producer is something relatable to that audience.  This will show the people in that situation that you can make it out of that situation if you want as well, because someone else is already doing it.

The goal for this clip is to bring attention to new artists with their own approach to music. It is to show the mind that is behind the music, and see what they are doing it for.  Are there reasons powerful or weak?  Are the reasons compassionate or shallow?  My goal for this clip is to give the audience a new perspective on topics that they may have no knowledge of.

Brand Treatment

  1.  The target brand for my video is going to be XXL Magazine, a hip hop magazine that showcases media that details on the hip hop culture, music, names, reviews, etc.
  2.   My audience is going to be aimed towards music listeners and people who find interests in hip hop artists and their differences compared to others of the same category.
  3.   The video will start with one character walking into their apartment, internally monologuing his dream of becoming a music producer.  The video will proceed to a second character also monologuing to himself about him stopping at nothing to achieve his dream of being a rapper.  The second character sees the first character, they join together in the same room, and begin working on another song, the video fades to black, the music continues to play for a few more seconds until it fades out.
